We’ve rounded up the top-rated homeowners insurance mobile apps, so you can find the homeowners insurance that’s a good match for your fast-paced lifestyle.
Our rating is taken from the App Store, which aggregates thousands of real-life customer reviews into a single score, from one to five stars.
#1 Lemonade – 4.9
Lemonade has the highest app store rating out of any major insurance carrier, and it’s easy to see why.
Lemonade is a digital-first insurance company, allowing users to apply for coverage seamlessly on desktop or directly through their mobile app. Lemonade offers renters, homeowners, car, pet health, and term life insurance, making it easy for users to navigate between multiple policies on one app.
Getting a quote for coverage takes mere minutes. Once you’ve signed up, staying on top of your policy is a breeze. Need to add your spouse’s name to your policy? Got a new credit card, or switched banks? Make changes in seconds right from your phone.
With Lemonade, you can even use their app to file a claim—and possibly get paid within seconds.
Lemonade’s mobile app might present a bit of a learning curve for those who aren’t tech-savvy, so keep that in mind if you’re a bit tech-phobic.
Key app features:
- Get coverage in minutes
- Fast claims process (some claims are paid instantly!)
- 24/7 customer support
- Manage multiple policies with ease
#2 State Farm – 4.8
State Farm’s app allows you to manage your policies and bank accounts, in addition to filing claims and getting customer support directly. It’s kind of like keeping an insurance agent in your back pocket.
State Farm’s mobile app integrates especially well with iPhone and Apple users, allowing policyholders to use ApplePay for bill payment, AppleWallet to store their insurance IDs, and Siri to help navigate State Farm’s insurance shortcuts.
Based on user reviews, the State Farm mobile app does tend to be a bit a buggy, especially when it comes to features surrounding the payment process.
Key app features:
- Easy access to FAQs
- Login with Touch ID, Face ID, or PIN
- Send a text message directly to an insurance agent
- Receive claim status notifications
#3 Liberty Mutual – 4.8
Liberty Mutual’s mobile app brings the convenience of their website to your smartphone. Their app allows you to make policy updates, enjoy paperless billing, and view digital ID cards. If you’re looking for convenience around the claims process, that’s where Liberty Mutual’s mobile app really delivers.
Liberty Mutual has many companion mobile apps on offer for policyholders. For homeowners, there is the Liberty Mutual Home Gallery ® app, which allows homeowners to upload a digital inventory of their belongings, helping to speed the claims process along in the event of a claim.
Unfortunately, you are unable to get a quote or make policy changes from the Liberty Mutual mobile app, and requires calling an agent.
Key app features:
- Stress-free claim filing
- Paperless billing
- Check status of a claim
- View and update policy with ease
#4 USAA – 4.8
With USAA’s mobile app, you can access your insurance ID, file a claim, pay premiums, upload pictures, and get 24/7 access to your estimates and claims status. For those who also use USAA for their banking and personal finances, the app helps make for a more fully-integrated experience.
One big caveat: USAA is only available to active military members, veterans, and their families, so not everyone has access to USAA’s coverage and other financial services. In addition, USAA doesn’t offer as many discounts as customers may have come to expect from a home insurance company.
#5 Nationwide – 4.4
On Nationwide’s mobile app, you can get a homeowners insurance quote, save and view policy documents, and submit a claim.
Keep in mind that some users have found the Nationwide mobile app buggy, especially during the claims process, and the claims interface on desktop is more user-friendly.
The App Store ratings above are current as of May 2022.
